Daddy Forgive Me

Nothing escapes your watchful eye.

You were there

When I was under the fig tree.

You saw my sin, and

You heard my cry, deep inside.

You never left me.

Oh, I screamed aloud, but

It wasn’t to you.

I pounded my fists, but

Not at you.

But when I did those things

To the least of these,

I did them to you.

Daddy forgive me

For what I did.

Truth Again

Draw a circle.

Tell a lie.

Anything to keep

From eating

Humble pie.

Long strides

In a short race

Make for good stories,

But a bad face.

A rainbow

Across the sky.

How it trembles!

How it glistens!

Running to you

In a snowstorm.

Bringing you

With me.

Lightning strikes

Above my head.

Lord, to taste

That homemade bread!

Seeds from the sower.

Not another TED talk.

Realms of kindness

And laughter

Swirl around us.

Dream of hereafter

Out of town fuss.

Knowledge

In a cup of tea.

Can you see me?

Never again.

To be caught in three.

Sir Lancelot.

Christmas trees.

Love it or leave it.

No, that’s not true.

Journal Entry #2

I can hear the birds chirping

Outside my window.

They sing and they fly

Around my backyard.

Yesterday my wife saw a raccoon

From the night before,

On her bird feeder camera.

As I sit in my chair, drinking coffee,

My tuxedo cat named Zeeb

Snoozes on my lap.

My wife is going to make

Vegetable beef soup tomorrow.

Should be tasty!
