Truth

Climb into the flaming chariot.

Take a ride to heaven-sent.

Close your eyes and feel the metal

Embracing you with its warmth.

Happy songs echo in the distance,

Crazy colors blink across the sky.

Twisted memories cascade inside.

Long leaps separate you from yourself.

Is the truth hiding from you today?

Is your stomach tied in knots?

Does this answer come at the right time,

Or is it just a passing thought?

Cute remarks fall from her lips.

An angel’s smile on a demon’s face.

Hefty lifts of dripping fangs,

While mercy runs away.

So what is your truth?

Echoes of the End

Coast about the desert plains,
Searching for a word in vain.
Close your mouth to the sweet refrain,
Trembling lips pray for rain.

Happy now to make ends meet.
Comforting to taste the sweet
Fruit of mana around your feet.
Laughing loudly, with a smile you greet

Strangers as they pass on by.
Angels bend to hear your cry.
Softly whimpering nearby,
Friendly nations start to sigh.

Do you know the secret song?
Do you wait for it for long?
Trying to see beyond the wrong,
Memories flash of Vietnam.

So many wounds around you now.
So many suffering children frown.
If only we could fathom how
To spare the life of our sacred cow.

Conflict comes like a mighty storm.
The dead multiply as vultures sore.
High above, piercing eyes bore
Through our bodies, they cut to the core.

Is the end coming soon?
We wonder amidst the ancient dunes.
In our beating hearts we make room,
As hungry wolves howl at the moon.

If they do not spare our lives,
Neither offspring, nor our wives;
If the kingdom come does arrive,
We are ready for the knives.

Well Said

How long does it take
To smoke a bong
When taking deep breaths
While singing a song?

How many licks does it take
To get to the center of the earth?
Do you like bananas?
I like bananas.

Where did you come from
Before you came here?
What was your name
Before you became you?

Do you know the way
To El Salvador?
Where are you going
After you leave here?

So many questions, but
Not many answers.
Did you know what they meant
When they spoke to you

At that place?
Did they interrogate you?
Did they threaten you?
Did they take everything you had

So that you didn’t even know anymore
Who or what you were?
Where are you now?
Are you here or there?

What keeps you running?
What terrifies you?
What is nice about this life?
What do you wish had happened

In your life before now?
Where would you like to go and
What would you like to do,
Just me and you?

It’s a sinful world, is it not?
What would be best
For this generation
To pass the test?

Well said.

Temper, Temper!

Long enough to tell the time,
Seeing truth behind the mind.
Complain here of everything
Something smells in what you sing.

Criticize the status quo,
Doing things in rhyme to show.
Finding you in a stones throw.
I see a solution you don’t know.

Only if, and when will be,
I want, I want! Come with me.
I will display another chime
So you can throw away the rind.

Tempers simmer to a boil,
Patience running out so fast.
Tired of the same old toil.
Remember that the first are last.

Do you hear the echo still?
It shakes the ground and reeks until
Something else takes its place.
You will come to find a place.

Truth Hurts Sometimes

Happy not, too slow to speak.
Angels cry, then sing to sleep
My troubled conscience–
Now I weep.

See you pass by, wonder why
Things have to be the way they are
Between you and me.
Do you have a clue?

Cry tonight until you fall
On your hands and knees.
Now you sprawl across the floor–
Only an echo of my presence left to tell.

Where did we go wrong?
Was it at hello or goodbye,
Or in between?
What I would have given to have seen

How things would turn out in the end.
So what is next for you and me?
Do we go on, or sit and sulk?
Time will tell if there is any hope.

Maybe we can start over, perhaps,
With a kind word or two.
I could say that I love you,
But would it be true?

Minus One

Rising soon to meet your maker,
Running from the soulless taker,
You breathe hard, then stare into
The bloodshot eyes of a putrid faker.

Are you the same one, the great kingmaker?
Will you set me free or will you take her?
What is to be my ultimate end?
To rearrange, or to stand and face it?

Time will tell, but I don’t have time.
Time will heal, but not this wound.
The emptiness threatens to drowned me.
How will I survive this trial?

Maybe someone will come along.
Soon, I hope, to save my life.
Maybe things will turn out better,
But I won’t hold my breath for that.

Is there a future without pain?
Is there another special person
Waiting for me to come along?
I tease myself when I hope.

It’s time to meet reality.

Know What I Mean?

Leaping into the thing
That makes me want to sing
About the things on a string,
So happy, so silly.

So how do you say that
In Spanish?
You don’t.
You just sit there and smile

At all the people walking by,
Wondering
What this world is coming to,
And where does it all end?

Have you ever asked a question,
Only to think of the answer
As you finish the question?
That happens to me sometimes.

So, what did you do
When they told you
That they were through
With being confused?

I don’t know,
But it all seems related
Somehow.
Know what I mean?
