Opportunity knocks,
And I turn my back.
Not into playing
Any high-strung games.
Not into risking
My meager employment.
Not into hob-knobbing
With those that want to show-off.
So when opportunity comes
My humble way,
I say no, thank you,
Perhaps another day.
Sunday Scribblings #272

Yes, I hadn’t thought that some ‘opportunity’ comes with excess baggage that really isn’t for the better..sometimes keeping things simple is the biggest opportunity..very thoughtful write..Jae
That is an aesthetic way of looking at it. Doesn’t fit the 21st. century norm – so I’m all for it!
Thank you, Altonian. I’m glad you like it. I tend to run against the grain a bit. Sounds like you do, too! 🙂
Thanks for your comment and compliment, Jae. I appreciate you thinking through my poem and even extending it a bit! Thanks for stopping by.

You’re right…not all opportunities are positive. Some are temptations “in disguise”! Thanks for the reminder! ~Paula
Thanks, Paula. I guess I’m glad with my stable life, even if things aren’t ideal. At least I don’t have any more problems. Thanks for your comments.
That knock can be scary. One never knows what disguise opportunity will wear standing on the other side of the door.
True, very true. Thanks for your comments.
